It is a horrible thing when something happens to a child.
It is probably the worst feeling in the world when something happens to a child under your care. You are standing right there and are helpless to do anything about it.
I was watching my 3 year old niece, Molly, on Thursday. Our puppy, Cody, bit her in the face. There was mass confusion, blood, and an emergency room visit, and stitches. She was very brave- handled it much better than myself- and she is going to be ok. There will be a scar.
I can't even describe to you how bad I feel.
This truly sucks.
My kids are a mess.
Cody will not be back.
Please keep my niece and my family in your prayers.

I am so sorry this happened! It is hard to let a dog you love go but if it bites a child you don't have much choice. Molly will be fine and it will give her something to hold over your head when she grows up - "Aunt Erin, remember when your dog bit me?" Yes, you are now under her control. All kidding aside, everything will be fine - it's just one of those bad things that happens in life and we're thankful it wasn't worse. Now go get her some ice cream.

hey E... sorry... i know guilt real well... but ... it's "a bag that YOU can pick up, or leave on the floor"
the DOG bit her... not YOU.
you did what you could to help her..you did what you could to prevent it from happening to her, or someone else ever again...right?
no guilt required.
her skin is young, and resilient ... what looks really bad right now, will be next to nothing in a few years. i promise!
take care, you've done what you can. just do what you can for now. what's done is done. k?
thanks for the nice note ... i left "you " one too. (it was general.. but meant for all who dropped a note for me)
take it ez on you. k

How scary. I'm glad it turned out okay. I feel terrible when someone else's kid gets hurt under my care. We had a little girl over yesterday who hit the back of her head on the concrete. She's okay but I felt awful. Luckily her mom is understanding that accidents happen. I hope that your family is being understanding. I'm sorry you lost your puppy over it. I'll pray for your niece to heal well and hopefully not fear dogs over this.

I most certainly will! I'm so sorry you all had to go through this.

My daughter was young and bit on the face, by her friends dog. She healed with no scar (the younger, like Molly, the easier they heal and scaring fades) ... I am sure it's much harder on you than she.

Cody was just acting like a pup and accidents do happen even to the best of us.

Your family and niece will be in my prayers tonight.

Thankfully kids are more resilient than adults. My son was bit by our dog when he was 3. He tried to take Max's bone away when he was eating. He has a scar over his lip today, but it is so small you can hardly see it. Thankfully, their skin is so much better at healing. Blessings to all!

Yikes. So Sorry! It's terrifying and sad but maybe the event has to be put to rest in that place where Things Happen, even when all the parties are only doing what they do best (including the puppy) ??

Meanwhile (to distract you) - how exactly are you and Bossy going to celebrate the fact that your kids were born on the same day? Bossy is thinking champagne.

What time on the 18th? Bossy's daughter was born on a weekday at 3:58 pm, or as Bossy likes to say, "Just in time for Aunt Oprah."

Getting bit in the face is bad but for you it must have been terribly upsetting. I was wheeling an old lady out to the bus, backwards in her walker with the seat....and she tipped backward. I watched her go back, ass over teakettle...and it the road. On her back.

she was ok but I felt so bad.

Worse a child.

Glad she is fine now!!!!
